Job description

About us

Infogrid is making the unfulfilled promise of scalable IoT (Internet of Things) a reality. Our goal is to be the global go-to provider for connected devices in smart buildings, creating dynamic solutions for everyday challenges. Our mantra is "keep it simple, keep it stable" and this ethos drives our product development.

We are a small, rapidly expanding team, but already have a broad portfolio of blue-chip clients – a testament to the strength of our product market fit. We are supported by The University of Oxford’s accelerator and smart-money investors.

Infogrid is an IoT platform (Sensors + SaaS) capable of handling millions of data events from hundreds of thousands of sensors every day. With cutting-edge, low-cost micro sensors provided by a 3rd party partner we're able to turn any building into a ‘smart’ building at a fraction of the cost of existing providers. The simplicity of our solution enables clients to self-install thousands of sensors in a matter of hours, and receive immediate real-time data. With the analytics and reporting we generate, companies can run more efficiently, pre-empt failures, save money, meet regulatory requirements, provide better environments

About the role

Working with us means working directly with live, high-profile end clients and shaping the future of our product. You’ll be dealing with very large, real datasets from a wide range of sensor types and use cases – with data processed in real time. You’ll work in React, Docker and AWS. We’re looking for you to join so you can help scale out a distributed architecture for lots of different data sources and lots of different live clients. You’ll be working on a project where everything is hosted in AWS and everything is automated. You’ll work alongside a very small team, meaning you’ll have loads of responsibility and will make a huge impact on our architecture processes.

The work will be challenging, but fun; you’ll work at the cutting edge of IoT and learn a huge amount. Most of all, we offer the opportunity to help shape the future of IoT for end users, globally.

Why we think you’ll love it here

●    Ability to grow into a technical or managerial leadership role

●    Keen to learn new backend technologies such as Python and Django

●    Huge responsibility and fascinating challenges – you’ll be joining us early on in our journey, with plenty of autonomy and room to develop the role.

●    Lots of flexibility and remote working options

●    Joining a small team of brilliant people who’ll be dedicated to your personal development

●    Ability to shape the future of the company and industry

●    Great exposure to interesting opportunities (e.g. University of Oxford’s accelerator programme and powerful network)

●    Competitive salary, holiday, perks and equity options package

Required qualifications:

●    4+ years of experience in frontend web development using Typescript and React (or Vue)

●    2+ years of experience building medium to large-scaled Single Page Applications.

●    2+ years of experience writing tests with a good understanding of TDD

●    2+ years of experience with DevOps solutions such as docker, terraform and CI/CD pipelines

●    Very strong proficiency in JavaScript and CSS, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model

●    Advanced knowledge of Accessibility and Web Standards

●    Strong experience with modern front-end build pipelines and tools (Git, IntelliJ, VSCode, or Atom)

●    Experience with common front-end development tools (Babel, Webpack, NPM, yarn, etc)

●    Have an excellent knowledge of classical programming paradigms (e.g. OOP, FP, SOLID, Prototypal Inheritance)

●    Expertise in managing cloud services using AWS (or GCP or Azure)

●    Expertise in working in an Agile team (preferably Scrum)

●    Hands-on experience throughout the SDLC (implementation, testing, bug fixing, deployment and production support)

Desired qualifications:

●    Expertise in building REST APIs

●    Expertise in building high-performance, highly-available and scalable systems

●    Expertise in estimating features

●    Expertise working within a startup environment
